Although iTunes is removing copy protections from music in its store, every file you download will contain your e-mail address embedded within it — so if that song you just bought ends up on a trading network, it can be traced back to you.
Some folks have taken to calling this kind of copy-protection — or, rather, copy deterrence — “social DRM.”
