The Awl investigates:
There’s an article about Sarah Palin in the new Vanity Fair, and the thing’s damn near 10,000 words. But is it worth plowing through writer Todd S. Purdum’s overheated prose (“It was in this environment that her ambition first found an outlet in public office, and where she first tasted the 151-proof Everclear that is power.”) to get the...

Quarry Girl bought take-out from vegan restaurants in L.A. and meticulously tested the food for the presence of eggs, shellfish and dairy. Ten restaurants passed with flying colors. One was on the bubble. And six were big losers.
North Korea sends U.S. searching for ship top... →
From the NYT:
For more than two weeks now, White House officials have been receiving frequent updates on a rusting North Korean ship, the Kang Nam 1, as it makes its way dead-slow across the South China Sea. Earlier this month, Mr. Obama’s aides thought the aging hulk — with its long rap sheet for surreptitious deliveries of missiles and arms — would be the first test of a United Nations...

What’s the deal with all the fainting? It’s in many of his concert films. Why did people lose consciousness? I don’t get it. This has never happened to me at anything, even that time I saw “A Prairie Home Companion.”
